Who is Furrera J?

Julianne, also known as Furrera J, is an artist living in Calgary, AB. Although her first formal prelude into the art world was in Fashion Design, she was inescapably drawn to more expansive forms of self expression through painting. From dreamy portraits to murals inspired by the natural world her work is tailored to combine both her love for creating on canvas and with fabric.

 

Growing up as an artistically driven child in Calgary, AB, Julianne found her way to Ottawa, ON where she studied Haute Couture sewing, receiving designer of the year. The shift of attention in her art started when she moved to Montreal, QC. Channeling real-life loss into oil paintings, Julianne focused on portraits, self explorative mark making and weaving beauty with the unpredictable.

 

With a meticulous eye, Julianne has set her sights on larger format creations. Expanding into whimsical storytelling inspired by her baby daughter. She hopes to evoke beautiful dreams sewn together by vivid colours and surreal scenes.
